For my second project I thought I would try painting in Pastel. Mom used to rave about how much she enjoyed it! Below is the original art work I will be doing along with the supplies in pastel (for those of you who don't know what they are.)

Lean on the bridge, not on your work! Boy does it come in handy! It's a sturdy transparent plastic shelf that allows you to add details to your painting or drawing without smearing, to rule straight lines with a brush or pen, or to steady a shaking hand.

Week 2

Second week, started on more background and then the top rose. Got the deep colors mixing dark pinks, purples and a bit of grays. I use a see bridge (mentioned in tools above) to rest my wrist on so I can paint and not smudge any work area.
Week 3

Third week, pretty much just worked on that new rose on the right... couldn't get it right till the very end of class, then it started looking like it was supposed to.
Week 4

Fourth week, started on the leaves and stems... this is very rough right now... and did a little bit of highlighting on the left rose... to give it depth.
Week 5

Fifth week, continued with the leaves and the bottom color... from the originial photo, it's a bit patchy and cloudy. I also worked on definition of the roses as well. Btw, you can see the difference between when I take the photos at night and in the morning. This one is at night.. so it's casting a more luminous color. The more true color of the painting is from week 4.
Week 6

Sixth week, continued with definition of roses and leaves and the background color around the edges. It's getting there! My teacher thought I was done.. but I'm not completely happy with it yet... still doing some touch up work! But it's close.... !
Week 7

Seventh week, it's COMPLETED! I hope you like it!
