This is my first project in 10 years. This is the piece I chose to paint taken from an art book.  I loved the colors and of course, the boats and old wooden lobster trap. Seems I'm collecting them in all sorts of ways these days.

Week 1

the picture above has
been traced onto paper
then traced back onto
the canvas using
graphic paper. Started
with the sky doing
light shades and
wetting the whole
upper section. Then
started on the beach
using light then
darker shades of the
beach color.

Week 2

Worked on the
bottom grass
colors and also
deepened the sky.
It takes a lot
of water so I
didn't get to do
much otherwise
the canvas will
get too wet.

Week 3

This week I worked
on the sky to deepen
the colors. I also
gave the grass and
beach colors a
little more depth
and shadow. I started
on the inside of
the boat too. You
have to do the lighter
shades or leave them
white in order to
keep the lighter
tones on the picture.

Week 4

This week I
concentrated
on the water and
the boat.

Watercolor is very
difficult to
deepen the colors.
Still need a lot of
work done inside
the boat and on the
beach

Week 5

After a few weeks
off it was time to
get back to art
class! Week 5, I
concentrated on
detail of the boat
and darkening the
shadows. I also
smoothed out the
beach and did a
little color on
the water and first
level of the sky as
it touches down on
the water.

Week 6

This week I
concentrated
on the grass and
the detail of
the boat and
the waves.

Week 7

Did a lot of detail
work this week.
the water was
filled in a bit and
I gave it some
sudsy crashing
whitewater. Also
got some birds
in the picture.
Worked on some
more definition
in the grass and
beach and also
the little pond.

Week 8 - Completed Painting
I'm so proud... I hope you like it!
