We were there in time for Thanksgiving, 2001

Here is the story!

Where to start.... How about early October?

We already had our plans made for our honeymoon in Kauai, but things were happening that were out of our control so we thought we would take a magic carpet ride and see where it led us.

It certainly was magic, with changing our plans from Kauai to Maine, and spending our honeymoon interviewing for jobs on the east coast and eating lobster... not too bad actually!

With that, we decided to take the plunge and move, lock stock and barrel to a little town in Maine called Sabattus. We had the opportunity to buy the homestead that has been in the family for 3 generations, right on the Lake!

That was the easy part......... the hard part was putting our home up for sale in Los Angeles, selling it, packing it, and moving it AND ourselves 3400 miles! It's truly amazing how all things went so well... all of the above! We sold our home within 2 weeks, started packing, and led this HUGE moving van down our street so it could be loaded "to the max" with our stuff!!!

Then started on our trek by car (with 8 year old boy and 12 year old dog in tow) across the country! To be honest, it went suprisingly well... in fact, it was wonderful and we did it in record time, 4 nights and 5 days! with no one the worse for the wear!

Our First anniversary was spent watching the movers unpack the truck. Funny part is the streets were so small here that the HUGE moving van had to back all the way down Lake street to our house! Only took 4 hours to unpack it! EGAD! Will wonders ever cease!

So here we are, on East Coast Time (something I don't think we'll ever get used to) and loving life and the rural community of 4,000. Slightly different from Los Angeles eh? but that's exactly why we love it here!

Lildoc walks to school every day (and enjoys it so far) and we have the privilege of viewing this beautiful breathtaking Lake every day for the rest of our lives.

Oh and btw, Chelsea is hatin' life here in the wintertime. Hates the rain, hates the snow, hates her new wool coat, hates crunchy grass, etc, etc, etc! lol (she's such a valley girl eh)

The next time you hear "happiness is where the heart is" take it from us, it's VERY true. We are in paradise!

Happy Anniversary, Honey... You gave me the best present EVER! The unwrapping of the Best of the Rest of our lives... here in a little town called Sabattus.

As I wrote this article,
we had our first snowfall!
